Dear Parents and Students:

With much anticipation and preparation, the start of the 2020-21 school year is now upon us. I hope all Nighthawk families have had a fun and restful summer.  We have been reviewing safety measures and carefully planning for a school year that will look and feel a bit different than what we are used to. Yet, we are very excited at the opportunity to reunite and collectively move forward with education in our community.

In this difficult and uncertain time, now more than ever, we need to work together, support each other and make decisions to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone. Some families are faced with certain challenges and may struggle with the decision to send their child back to school or not. My role is to communicate all the safety measures and procedure that are put in place in the school and support families in making these important decisions. Please click on the links below to read more about the K-12 Education Stage 2 Restart Plan and the K-12 health and safety measures outlined by the BCCDC.

Please don’t hesitate to reach to me to get more information or to discuss your situation.

Each year I look forward to working with the dedicated, hard-working, professional staff, the Osoyoos children and families and the many educational partners that support our learning community. As well, I look forward to continuing to build the OSE’s culture and traditions and seek to build positive relationships with parents and community members.

In the 2020-21 school year, a year influenced by the pandemic, we will provide a strong educational program with specific attention to the social-emotional well-being of our children and support them through Trauma-Informed Practice. We will also focus on their literacy and numeracy skills as we nurture the development of resiliency, self-regulation, social skills and social responsibility.

We encourage all parents and guardians to take an active role in their child's education. Together, we can provide your child the support and direction he/she needs to lead a successful and rewarding life.

Best regards,

David Foster
